QSYMIA Diet Pill is now officially available in the United States. This comes after a silent few months after its FDA approval last July.
This week, Vivus Inc, the makers of Qsymia will formally launch the product and announce its availability in Texas during the Obesity Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting in September 2012.
Part of the announcement will be the presentation of Vivus’ Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy or REMS. This is a mandate by the FDA upon Qsymia’s approval in order to determine whether Qsymia can cause serious side effects like heart attacks or strokes.
Qsymia is also not intended for pregnant women. part of the PREMS program will allow doctors scan potential women who might get pregnant during the course of medication.

As stated on our recent posts,Qsymia will only be available via Mail Order. This is also part of the strategy of Vivus to control the demand of the diet pill and closely monitor if there are really bad effects that are caused by this new diet pill.
Patients will need a prescription before he can be allowed to purchase Qsymia. Qsymia will also not be available online.
As of the moment, Qsymia diet pill will only be released and be made available in the US market. It is still not available in any Canadian Pharmacy or drug stores across Mexico, UK, Germany, France, Australia and others.

One of the advantage of Qsymia over Belvic (lorcaserin) is it is a once a day weight loss medication. Patients will only need to take Qsymia once a day.
Qsymia will be availble in two dosages:
- Mid or Regular dose containing 7.g mg of Phentermine and 46 mg of Topimarate
- High Dose containing 15mg of Phentermine and 92 mg of Topimarate

- Mid Dose: 135.62 dollars per bottle
- High Dose: 183.90 dollars per bottle
Cost of Qsymia treatment is 4.52 dollars per tablet for the Mid Dose and 6.13 dollars per tablet for the high dose of Qsymia.

Qsymia will be available via special mail order. Patients with prescriptions can order via the Qsymia Home Delivery Network that includes CVS and Walgreens.
Patients should be given the Mid Dose first. After 3 months of no results, doctors can opt to prescribe the higher dose of Qsymia.

- Low dose (3.75 mg phentermine/23 mg topiramate)
- Recommended dose (7.5 mg phentermine /46 mg topiramate )
- Three-quarter dose (11.25 mg phentermine /69 mg topiramate )
- Top dose (15 mg phentermine /92 mgtopiramate )
