People do exercise for different reasons. Many do exercise just to look good, while others exercise to  build up their body. Most people exercise to keep their bodies healthy while others do exercises to relieve them of stress. Athletes do exercises and workouts to strengthen their bodies and improve their endurance and stamina.

One of the most common reason why people exercise is to lose weight. If done correctly and is paired with a healthy diet, exercise can really help people lose weight.

You don’t need to go to the gym to exercise to lose weight. You can do simple exercises at home or outdoors to see good results. Try out first some easy exercises like jogging, brisk walking, swimming and jump ropes to get your body accustomed to the active lifestyle. These also prevents injuries if you move towards the more difficult exercises like weight lifting too fast.

But how many minutes in a day should you do exercise in order to lose weight?

A new study from Copenhagen shows that 30 minutes of exercise can be as effective as an hour or more of exercise. This study was printed on The American Journal of Physiology. The weight loss results of the 30 minute exercise was conducted on 60 heavy built Danish men.

The study broke the population into 2 groups. The first one was told to do 1 hour of exercise per day while the other half was told to do only 30 minutes of exercise.  All the volunteers were given heart rate monitors and a calorie counter. All of them are also told to do exercises hard enough for them to break a sweat.

The weight loss study took 3 months to complete.

These are the weight loss results for this particular study:

1 Hour Group: lost an average of 2.7 kilograms per volunteer

30 Minutes Group: lost an average of 3.6 kilograms per member

One of the most logical explanation why the 30minute group got more weight loss results is that their schedule is much shorter and is more appealing. The 30 minute per day schedule allows the participants to be more motivated to lose weight. This shows that motivation to lose weight is really a factor for everyone who want to get slim and have a more attractive body.

So if you are too lazy to exercise or too busy do go to the gym, you just need to allot 30 minutes of exercise per day to see weight loss results.

Hope this weight loss article has motivated you to exercise… 😀
